Lab Facilities

The computer labs facilities complete with up to date technology, provide pleasant environment for staff or students for learning, teaching, research and undertaking practical assignments. Each lab is equipped with the latest computers along with a variety of software and equipment peripherals. The computer operating environments are based on Microsoft Windows 7 and  Windows 10 operating systems. They also include many other software installed depending on the purpose and usage of the lab. 

Most of the Practical Labs are equipped with ceiling mounted Projector and some of the computer labs are equipped with printer to provide free monochrome printing.  

ITISC performs Preventive Maintenance twice a year during semester break to ensure the lab facilities continues to operate properly.   

Besides, there are total 80 Internet PCs available in Main Library, Kampar Campus and 37 Internet PCs available in Mary Kuok Pick Hoo Library, Sungai Long Campus.  

ITISC manages total 24 computer labs in Kampar and Sungai Long Campuses.

Lab Bookings

Lab bookings for timetabled courses are submitted by each faculty prior to commencement of each semester, for further information on this process please contact our computer lab administrator in any ITISC counters.

There are general access computer labs available for casual booking, subject to availability.

Computer Lab Rules and Regulations 


1.       Only registered computer users are allowed to access the computer facilities in the computer labs.

2.       Wear your I.D. cards in a proper visible position

3.       Observe the dress code of UTAR

4.       Leave your bags at the shelf provided outside the computer labs. Do not leave any valuable items inside the bag. UTAR shall not be held responsible for any missing items.

5.       No food or drink is allowed in the computer labs

6.       Do not disclose your password or allow other persons to use your account.  You will be held responsible for any improper use of the computer facilities via your password         or account.

7.       Do not transmit or receive offensive or obscene materials.  Users shall not view or download pornographic materials in any form.

8.       Do not install any unauthorised or unlicensed software into the computers in the computer labs.

9.       Do not utilise the computer facilities for any activities which breach the UTAR rules and regulations or any related laws.

10.     Do not tamper with the default settings for hardware or software of any computer, printer, or any other associated equipment.  If there are problems or faults, report               them immediately to the Computer Lab Administrator.

11.    Do not remove any equipment from the computer labs.  Theft of equipment is a crime.  Violators will be prosecuted.

12.    You are not to unplug any of the equipment, network and power cables from their respective sockets and connect it with your laptop/notebook as the existing      wired network connection is configured to work only if it is connected to the lab computer.

13.    You could connect your laptop/notebook for internet via WiFi connection.

14.    Lab computer and the Internet should ONLY be used for purposes related to the University work or studies.  When you access the Internet in the labs, your       usage is monitored.  Anyone who is accessing undesirable/inappropriate sites will be referred to the Disciplinary Committee.  The list of online activities             deemed inappropriate (unless it is meant for academic exercise) are including but not limited to:

        (a)     Music Download

        (b)     Chat Boards

        (c)     Gaming

        (d)     Movie

        (e)     Excessive social networking

15.    Please keep the computer labs neat and clean at all times.

16.    Do not save your work in any of the hard drives. The computers are automatically cleaned and unauthorised files, directories and programs will be routinely       deleted.

17.    If a
phone call needs to be attended, please do so outside the computer labs.   

18.    Computers in the labs are on sharing basis.  As a courtesy, please give up your terminal to other users who are waiting if you have finished using it.

19.    Group works, discussions and any non-computer based works should be done in the common areas outside of the computer labs and not inside the                   computer labs.

20.    Before leaving your terminal, please save your work in your USB flash drive and log off the computer.  Any work done in the computer and left unattended         will not be recovered once the computer is rebooted.

21.    No software should be loaded, developed or executed in the computers that attempt to alter the network file servers or other equipment.

22.    All computer users are liable for any damage to the equipment in the labs due to negligence.

 

The ITIS Centre reserves the right to suspend any users from using the computer facilities if they are found to have breached any of the rules and regulations stated above.
